The community paediatric physiotherapy service provides a high standard of Physiotherapy care across the Wandsworth Borough for children aged 0-16 years with complex needs (such as Cerebral Palsy, neuromuscular conditions, global developmental delay, etc.) as well as musculoskeletal conditions (such as knee pain, back problems, sports injuries, etc.) The service provides Physiotherapy in clinics at Queen Mary’s Hospital and St George’s Hospital.  For those with specific complex needs, we also provide Physiotherapy input across the Wandsworth borough in home environments, education settings (including schools and nurseries) and, when indicated, other community settings (such as local gyms, parks, etc.) We also offer a Ponseti service for children in the Wandsworth and Croydon boroughs. All of our paediatric Physiotherapy services are in line with government initiatives and National Service Frameworks, including Every Child Matters and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) clinical guidelines, to provide the most effective service for our children and families. Most of our Physiotherapists are members of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists and regularly attend courses for this special interest group.

Referrals

We accept referrals for children and young people (0-16 years of age) with a Wandsworth GP.

We do not accept self-referrals – all referrals must be from a healthcare professional (e.g GP). Referrals can be sent to stgh-tr.referrals@nhs.net or posted to the department.

Internal referrals for outpatient or community physiotherapy assessment can be sent via internal.referrals@stgeorges.nhs.uk
