Work With Us

We are one of the country’s largest and busiest acute NHS Trusts, serving a diverse population of more than 3.5 million people across south London and beyond.

We employ around 10,000 dedicated staff across more than 40 different services and specialties. Every day, more than 2,000 patients attend our sites, mainly for outpatient appointments, elective surgery, and in our Emergency Department, made famous as the home of ’24 Hours in A&E’.

You can find opportunities in a wide range of occupations and professions, from front-line doctors and nurses through to other health professionals, and essential support and corporate services – all working together to provide outstanding care every time for patients, and the communities we serve.

Disability Confident (guaranteed interview) scheme

When applying for a job with us, if an applicant has a disability covered by the definition outlined within the Equality Act 2010 and can show that they meet the ‘essential criteria’ described in the person specification for the role being applied for, they are guaranteed a priority interview for the job for which they are applying, through our Disability Confident scheme (formerly known as the Guaranteed Interview Scheme).

Under the Equality Act 2010, a disabled person is someone who has – or has had in the past – a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on that person’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.

As an equal opportunities and disability confident employer, we actively encourage applications from people who consider themselves to have a disability falling within that broad definition.

Access to the Disability Confident scheme simply requires an applicant with a disability to:

  • Show that they meet the essential criteria described in the person specification
  • Answer ‘yes’ to the question on the Trust’s job application form ‘do you wish to be considered under the Guaranteed Interview Scheme?’

Our Recruitment Team will provide assistance to any applicant with a disability who needs help in completing an application for employment.  The team’s contact details can be found on each job vacancy advert.

The Disability Confident scheme only guarantees an interview – it does not automatically mean that applicants interviewed will gain employment with the Trust at that time. Feedback on the results of the interview will be given to each candidate individually and in a way which the candidate has agreed best meets their personal needs.
