Outpatient appointments

We aim to make your outpatient experience as seamless as possible. Below is a concise guide to booking, changing, and managing your appointments.

Booking your appointment

If your GP has referred you, you can use the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) to choose the place, time and date for your first appointment.

Your GP can book it while you’re at the surgery, or you can book yourself:

  • book online using the appointment request letter your GP gives you
  • phone the NHS e-Referral Service line on 0345 608 8888 (open Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm, and on weekends and bank holidays from 8am to 4pm)

You can manage GP appointments using your NHS App or account here

Changing or cancelling appointments

Please let us know as soon as possible if  you need to change or cancel your outpatient appointment or update your contact details, by completing  the form below. We will contact you to confirm the changes and aim to answer all requests within 24 hours of submission.

Change Your Appointment

You can also call the number provided in your appointment letter. If you don’t have your letter, search for contact details via our A-Z of services.

Video Appointments

You may be asked by a member of our booking team if you would like to use our video consultation service for your outpatient appointment.

The decision to offer this type of appointment will be made by a medical professional depending on your individual care needs.

Patient initiated follow-up (PIFU) appointments

If your condition is stable, you may be eligible for PIFU, allowing you to book follow-up appointments as needed, rather than attending routine check-ups. Your healthcare provider will discuss if this option is suitable for you. For more information please see Patient initiated follow up appointments.

Using the St George’s Patient Portal App My Care to manage your appointment

MyCare St George’s Patient Portal offers a convenient and user-friendly solution for patients to take control of their appointments and access appointment letters online. Through a responsive website accessible from both desktop computers and mobile devices, patients can easily manage their healthcare schedule.
