Pharmacy roles

Pharmacy staff wishing to gain experience within a prison setting will experience a role like no other

There are a number of developments in the pipeline including the opening of a multimillion pound healthcare centre. As a result, the offender healthcare pharmacy department has undergone a restructure which has resulted in a number of new opportunities for staff that match our vision and values.

We are looking for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants to be part of the Offender Healthcare vision in delivering the medicines optimisation strategy.

The pharmacy team play a key role in the provision of the healthcare services.

Besides dispensary services, pharmacy staff provide clinics, act as key points of contact within the multidisciplinary team, are a source of drug expertise, counsel patients on their medication, and are responsible for medicine administration to prisoners.

Pharmacists are supported through the diploma and are expected to become independent prescribers.

Medicines management technicians are expected to be accredited in accuracy checking and will be offered further medicines management training.
