Who we are
Our team of Physiotherapists is highly skilled with a broad range of experience. We are committed to giving you complete confidence in the treatment you receive.
All our therapists are qualified in Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC). Some have a Masters Degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and/ or a degree in Sport Science.
We are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and of various Special Interest Groups (SIGs), including The Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).

Susie George
Susie qualified in 1993 and has over 19 years of musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience. She has worked at Queen Mary’s Hospital (QMH) for the last 16 years. During this time she has completed her Masters degree in Neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy and is a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).
She has a dual role as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner and was instrumental in the setting up and running of the Musculoskeletal Clinical Assessment Service (M-CAS) at QMH. This is for the assessment of complex MSK presentations with access to further investigations.
When treating patients, Susie enjoys facilitating them to reach their optimal potential and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Susie also enjoys the rehabilitation of lower limb injuries. When not at work, she enjoys playing tennis, running, skiing, mountain biking and occasional windsurfing.
Dave Burnett
Dave has been working in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy for 10 years. Prior to becoming a physiotherapist he gained a degree in Sports Science and he is in the final stages of completing his Masters degree in Neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy.
He has additional post graduate training in pilates, acupuncture and spinal manipulation and is a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP). He has a dual role as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner running M-CAS with Susie.
Dave has a keen interest in lower limb rehabilitation for sporting injuries. He enjoys playing football and working at reducing his golf handicap when he is not helping others with their rehabilitation.
Nicola Cox
Nicola has worked in the department since 2000. She is registered with the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and enjoys using acupuncture as an adjunct to her physiotherapy treatments.
She enjoys all aspects of physiotherapy and has recently completed her initial Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute. Nicola is a keen runner and cyclist and recently completed her first triathlon.
Susan Bocci
Susan qualified from the University of the West of England in 2003 and has 12 years of physiotherapy experience. She commenced her Physiotherapy career London working for many of the major London NHS trusts including UCL, Homerton Hospital and Imperial Healthcare Trust. She has gained a wealth of experience working in these trusts. Susan commenced working for QMH in January 2014.
Susan graduated with an MSC in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at Kings College, London in 2019. She also is MACP accredited. Susan has a keen interest in pain science and complex pain.
Susan enjoys treating multiple joints but has excellent experience in functional rehabilitation for Upper and Lower limb injuries, sacroiliac joint dysfunction and spinal pain. She thoroughly enjoys working with patients to ensure they reach their functional goals and motivates patients to see the benefits of long term exercises for long term improvements. When not at work Susan is a busy Mum and enjoys running, tennis, swimming and cooking.
Jennifer Fernando
Jennifer graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2012 and since this time has worked in the area of MSK physiotherapy. She is registered with the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) and is interested in functional rehabilitation. As a result since graduating she has completed her APPI Matwork level 1 and 2 pilates and foundation level hydrotherapy training, with a vast amount of experience and interest in utilising hydrotherapy for rehabilitation. In her spare time she is a keen runner, competing in 5k and 10k races.
Jessica Lockwood
Laura Nelson
Laura previously worked in marketing and made the switch to Physiotherapy in 2011, training at St. George’s Hospital Medical School. Since qualifying she has gained experience in a wide range of physiotherapy specialisms including critical care, orthopaedics, neurology and prosthetic rehabilitation. Laura enjoys treating a wide variety of conditions but particularly enjoys encouraging and helping to facilitate people to use exercise and movement to improve pain and function.
She is a keen runner and cyclist and can regularly be found in the weights section of the gym.
Erin Murray
Erin graduated from Cardiff University in 2014 and has since gained experience working in a variety of settings in Barts NHS Trust and St Georges Hospital Trust. She specialised in the area of MSK when starting in QMH Outpatients in April 2018. Erin has a keen interest in strength and conditioning and using exercise to help people return to their former levels of function. In her spare time she is a lover of the outdoors and enjoys running, cycling and long walks and likes to return to her home-town in Cornwall regularly to be by the coast.
