Patients have been referred to St George’s Hospital Sleep Clinic for the investigation of possible sleep apnoea.

St George’s Hospital is collaborating with a medical device company called Acurable, which is contracted by the NHS to send the device to all patients. This means patient will not need to attend the hospital for this test.

Respiratory department will need to share patient’s contact details with the company to allow them to get in touch and send  the sleep test. Only strictly necessary information will be shared.

If you do not want your details to be shared with Acurable, you can opt out by emailing RespAdmin@stgeorges.nhs.uk within the next 5 days.

If we do not hear from you, you will receive an AcuPebble (the sleep study equipment) by post. You will conduct the sleep study at home using this equipment.

AcuPebble is a small, easy-to-use medical device for diagnosing obstructive sleep apnoea. It consists of a small sensor that is attached to the base of your neck and a ring sensor, both of which you will wear overnight.

AcuPebble will be posted to your home, and you will be able to return it by post as well, meaning you do not need to travel to the hospital to collect or return the equipment.

The date of your appointment is the date Acurable will contact you, within 3 working days, by email, text, or phone call to inform you that the sleep study has been posted. If you do not complete your sleep study within 5 days of receiving the AcuPebble sleep study equipment, you will be referred back to the department. Your clinical information will then be reviewed, and you may be discharged.

For this study you will need to use an app, which may not be compatible with every phone or tablet. If you are happy to conduct the AcuPebble sleep study, please email patient@acurable.com quoting your name, date of birth and appointment date on your letter, and confirming:

• If you have a smartphone
  • If yes, please tell us the model of your phone

If you do not have a smartphone which is compatible with the AcuPebble app, you will still be able to do the study. In this case, you will be provided with a compatible device to use within the AcuPebble sleep kit. If Acurable do not receive an email from you, you may be contacted prior to a kit being sent out to you.
