During your pregnancy, St. George’s Hospital offers three important vaccines to help protect both you and your baby:
- Flu Vaccine
- Availability: Offered at any stage of pregnancy from September to March.
- Why It Matters: Pregnancy can weaken your immune system, making it harder to fight off infections like the flu, which can lead to serious complications. The flu vaccine reduces your risk of catching the flu and ensures better protection for you and your baby.

- Whooping Cough Vaccine
- Availability: Offered from 16 weeks of gestation, year-round.
- Why It Matters: Whooping cough is a severe infection, particularly dangerous for young babies. Getting vaccinated during pregnancy helps transfer protective antibodies to your baby, safeguarding them until they can be vaccinated at 8 weeks old.

- RSV Vaccine
- Availability: Offered from 28 weeks of gestation, starting 1st September 2024.
- Why It Matters: Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) can cause bronchiolitis, a serious lung infection in babies. Vaccinating during pregnancy helps protect your newborn from this virus, reducing the risk of severe illness and hospitalisation.
