The Neonatal Unit looks after newborn babies with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.  Many of these babies are born prematurely. The Unit is divided into 3 nurseries – Intensive Care (12 cots), High Dependancy Care (9 cots), and Special Care (18 cots).

Babies may be admitted to the neonatal unit if they are born at St George’s Hospital,  or if they are born outside of St George’s but need our specialist medical or surgical services.

1st floor, Lanesborough Wing, St George's Hospital

Key information

Visiting times: Parents may visit at any time, although may be asked to wait outside the nursery during ward rounds or nursing handover. Preschool children may not visit in the winter for infection control reasons. Please check with the sister in charge before bringing young children onto the unit.

Tea and coffee making facilities for parents in parents kitchen.

Five parent bedrooms,  allocated according to need by the sister in charge of the unit.
