Day Case Unit – Queen Mary’s Hospital

The Day Case Unit provides care for patients undergoing Endoscopic and Surgical procedures which are carried out under sedation, local anaesthesia and regional block. The unit consists of a first and second stage recovery, two endoscopy rooms, decontamination room and an operating theatre.  As part of the rapid diagnostic centre we provide a day service covering Monday to Saturday.

We were awarded JAG accreditation in January 2010.

For nurses and ODP’s with some post registration experience  – this is a chance to develop your skills as part of a highly capable team where you’re guaranteed opportunities to learn how to best care for patients requiring a variety of invasive and surgical procedures. As part of the day case team and the rapid diagnostic centre you will have the opportunity to gain experience in our theatre and diagnostic clinics. You will be supported to help you develop the skills you need to care for patients requiring.

  • Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy
  • Flexible cystoscopy

  • Pain treatment service consultant lead, offering a wide range of pain treatment
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Podiatric surgery under regional block and sedation
  • Ophthalmic surgery
