Red Cell and Haemoglobin Disorders Unit: Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia
On this page:
St George’s is the Specialist Haemoglobinopathy Team (SHT) for South-West London and parts of Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire – working with local teams in Epsom and St Helier, Kingston, Guildford, Frimley, Ashford and St Peters and East Surrey.
We look after patients living with sickle cell, thalassaemia and rare anaemias and provide emergency inpatient care alongside specialist outpatient services including transfusion, transplantation, disease intervention, pain management, psychological therapies and supporting patients being looked after by other specialties and teams.
Patients being admitted via the Emergency Department should be managed in line with their individual care plans and departmental guidelines and if being admitted under Haematology should be on Gordon-Smith Ward our Haematology ward.
