The Adult Hearing and Hearing Aid Service is for adults who have a hearing loss or suspected hearing problems.  We accept referrals for adults of all ages.

Assessments may be carried out by audiologists and/or audiovestibular physicians. At your first appointment, we will ask you a number of questions regarding your hearing problems and your medical history.  We will look in your ears and then do the hearing test.

Where the fitting of hearing aids is required, a range of hearing aids are offered based on what is most appropriate for your needs.  The department currently offers Phonak and Oticon behind the ear (BTE) hearing aids in a choice of two colours.  Follow-up care is provided for as long as is needed.  Where required, aetiological investigations are also offered to establish the cause of the hearing loss.

Hearing aid aftercare and repairs

The Audiology Department will provide ongoing aftercare and support with your hearing aid. If your hearing aid provided by us is not working, please arrange an appointment to see one of our team. Please note, the department does not offer a walk in repair service.

To arrange a booked repair clinic  appointment please call on 020 8725 0007 or alternatively email us on audiologist.appointments@stgeorges.nhs.uk

If you do not wish to make an appointment with us you may drop your hearing aid off with us at either our St Georges Hospital site or Trevelyan House site with the reception team. In this instance we will contact you to collect the hearing aids once they have been repaired. Please note, this can take up to 5 working days.

If you require additional support, you may be offered a referral to hearing therapy or the Hearing Aid Masterclass .

Local and national protocols are closely followed with several audits in place to ensure we uphold these standards.
