Clinical Research Facility (CRF)

The Clinical Research Facility, which is managed by St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, provides staff and facilities to enable university and Trust researchers to offer and run high-quality clinical trials for our patients and volunteers.

It is a comfortable, safe and secure environment where we recruit and monitor patients/volunteers in accordance with Good Clinical Practice, departmental standard operating procedures and Trust policies.

We are keen to facilitate the work of established investigators and encourage and support the use of the facilities by new investigators. We also support, educate and facilitate collaboration of the wider delivery research workforce across the Trust.

Facilities

The CRF has a reception, waiting room, nine examination/treatment rooms and a sample processing laboratory, as well as ample storage areas for study kit and space for study monitors.

Staff

We are an expanding team of research delivery staff made up of senior nurse managers, research nurses, clinical trials coordinator and assistants, laboratory technicians and a receptionist. We have a large open-plan office space and meeting room facility, shared with other research delivery teams, which enables us to share ideas and be a hub for research activity.

Specialist areas

We cover a vast range of clinical specialties, with current main activity being within gastroenterology, diabetes, neurology and trauma and orthopaedics. We also support the delivery of research within dermatology, renal, urology, rare diseases, paediatrics, cardiovascular disease, endocrinology, hepatology, rheumatology and respiratory medicine.
