Social workers can help older people maintain independence and access services that support their daily living, including:

- Home support services
- Residential or nursing care options
- Community and voluntary support services
Social services can provide support for families and carers. Caring for a loved one can be demanding. Social Services can provide:
- Information and advice for carers
- Emotional support
- Signposting to community resources
- Assistance with accessing respite services
