In the pessary clinic, we assess, advise and treat women with pelvic floor dysfunction including patients with overactive bladder, prolapse and associated problems such as incontinence.

Treatment Options

We offer:

  • conservative treatment
  • bladder re-training
  • medications
  • a wide variety of pessaries for prolapse and incontinence
  • primary prolapse surgery

Patients who had previous prolapse surgery who would only consider further surgery should be referred to another specialist centre.

Interdisciplinary Care

We work closely with the obstetric department to support women who have symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction during the antenatal and post-natal periods.

Other services we provide include 4D pelvic floor ultrasound and treatment for perineal pain.

We are also closely linked to our Women’s Physiotherapy services and Urology and Colorectal teams to provide holistic care.
