You said, We did

As a Service, we strive to improve patient care all the time. In order for us to achieve this, we value importance of our engagement with all the stakeholders including service users. Evidence has shown how the involvement of service users and the public has led to real improvements in services and the health of local population. When planning our engagement, we always consider what impact people can have.  This section of our website is dedicated to feeding back to service users on the outcome of their involvement.  In addition to this, we also conduct regular Patient satisfaction surveys and also host regular Children’s Hearing Service Working Group (CHSWG) meetings to name a few other initiatives.

Here are just a few examples of how patient and public involvement has made a difference.

To offer early morning and late evening appointment slots

We did

We now offer appointment slots from 8am to 6pm for Adult Audiology patients.

To provide more information to families about investigations into cause of their baby’s hearing loss

We did

We now offer detailed leaflet explaining all the possible investigations to find the cause for baby’s hearing loss. We also offer opportunity for parents to opt for ‘feed and wrap’ MRI scan of their head, focusing on ears. This is conducted on babies under natural sleep which takes away the risks associated with general anaesthesia, that is usually required for older children who can not keep still long enough to have MRI scan carried out.

To improve facilities in our Newborn hearing test room

We did

All requested improvements are being implemented now including making room comfortable, providing additional privacy for breastfeeding and more.
