Mr Hugh Byrne
Clinical interests
Mr Byrne is a consultant gynaecologist at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with a specialist interest in gynaecological minimal access surgery endometriosis treatment and surgery, fertility sparing surgery, polycystic ovaries, menstrual disorders and robotic surgery.
He also has a clinical interest in fibroids including laparoscopic myomectomy and hysteroscopic resection as well as radiological management.
In addition Mr Byrne specialises in the treatment of pelvic pain and sexual dysfunction, ovarian cysts, pelvic adhesions and emergency obstetrics.
Professional profile
Mr Byrne qualified in Dublin in 1998 and undertook his senior registrar training at St Bartholomew's and St Mary's Hospitals, London. He also undertook other postgraduate training in France. He was a previous research fellow in endometriosis.
His publications include work into severe endometriosis, gynaecological imaging (including MRI) and laparoscopic surgical training. He also makes regular presentations at international meetings and has trained in gynaecological ultrasound and managing the infertile couple.
