Professional profile

Dr Firoozi graduated from Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals medical school in 1995 with multiple distinctions. His post graduate medical and cardiology training involved posts at Hammersmith, Royal Brompton, Guy's, St Thomas' and St George's Hospitals.

He was then awarded a British Heart Foundation research fellowship and undertook clinical research at St George's Medical School. Following this he completed his higher specialist training in general and interventional cardiology at St George's Hospital.

Dr Firoozi has been a consultant cardiologist at St George's Hospital since 2009 and has established a high volume general and interventional cardiology clinical practice and developed a focused interest in complex coronary interventions and intracoronary imaging and physiology.

Dr Firoozi is also actively involved in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education and runs medical education courses. He is also involved in the organisation of training for cardiology and angioplasty in the London area.

Clinical interests

Dr Firoozi is an interventional cardiologist at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with a clinical interest in coronary artery disease, complex coronary intervention, transcatheter cardiac valve therapies including TAVI, structural heart intervention.


Research interests

Primary PCI strategies for the management of acute MI, (2) Role of PCI in managing coronary disease in renal failure patients, (3) Role of PCI in Patients with Ischaemic Left Ventricular Dysfunction and Heart failure, (4) TAVI, (5) Management of coronary disease in the TAVI population.

Member of British Cardiac Society and British Cardiac Interventional Society, Faculty member at Advance Cardiac Intervention annual meeting, Lecturer at St George’s Hospital Cardiology Simulation Training Course, Lecturer at St George’s Hospital MRCP Part 2 Course, Co-investigator of some interventional and cardiac trials (COMPLETE, ISCHAEMIA, REVIVED) at St George’s Hospital.
