Professional profile
Dr Emma Evans is a consultant anaesthetist with a special interest in obstetric anaesthesia and user experience. She is currently Clinical Lead for the ‘New Beginnings’ project aiming to improve the quality of the birth experience in Maternity operating theatres in collaboration with The Point of Care Foundation and funded through the Health Innovation Network.
Emma graduated from the University of London in 1995. After training in anaesthetics on the South West Thames Anaesthetic Rotation, she joined the consultant team at St George's Hospital in 2005.
Emma has a strong interest in medical education and particularly in in-situ team simulation in maternity. She was the Clinical Lead for Simulation from 2008-2010. She has led multiple workshops and training sessions on multi-professional team performance and engagement in Maternity and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.
She was the for Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia at St George's, Lead Anaesthetist for Risk in Maternity, a member of the South West London Maternity Network Board and an Executive Committee member of the Obstetric Anaesthetists Association.
Dr Evans is now the care group lead for theatres at St George's.
She is the Honorary Secretary Elect of the Obstetric Anaesthetists Association,
Secretary for the LabourPains sub committee which leads in providing free, multilingual resources for parents to be about pain relief and anaesthesia for birth on the www.LabourPains.com website.
