Professional Profile

Dr Abbas is a dually-qualified consultant in the specialties of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. He works at St George’s Hospital where his practice covers the breadth of neuromuscular disorders, with a particular subspecialist interest in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve diseases.

He completed his Neurology specialist training at St George’s Hospital in London, including a Neuromuscular Clinical Fellowship at King’s College Hospital, and before that undertook Neurophysiology specialist training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

In addition to neuromuscular treatment and electrodiagnostic evaluation, Dr Abbas also undertakes peripheral nerve ultrasound. He learned this from pioneers in the field through a competitively funded European Association of Neurology [EAN] Clinical Fellowship in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Dr Abbas has a keen interest in teaching, and has been awarded national, regional and local teaching prizes in addition to Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy [FHEA]. He has been involved in clinical research, with several publications and awards in this area. His presentations at national neurology meetings have also garnered several prizes.

Dr Abbas is a member of the Association of British Neurology [ABN], British Society of Clinical Neurophysiology [BSCN], British Peripheral Nerve Society [BPNS] and British Myology Society [BMS].
