How MyCare works with the NHS App

Overview

You can now see your St George’s Hospital appointments through both the MyCare Patient Portal and the NHS App.

St George’s was one of the first hospitals in England to make this available.

Both tools help you stay updated about your care, but they show different types of information.

MyCare Patient Portal

MyCare gives you the fullest view of your hospital information because it connects directly to our electronic patient record (iClip Pro).

With MyCare, you can:

  • View upcoming appointments
  • Read appointment letters
  • Receive messages directly from your consultant or care team
  • Complete questionnaires before you come to hospital (e.g. pre-op forms)
  • View test results as soon as they are ready*
  • Access clinic letters and documents
  • See your known allergies
  • View personalised health information and resources

* Some sensitive or complex results will not appear online. Your care team will always discuss these with you.

NHS App

The NHS App provides a simplified view of your St George’s hospital appointments.

With the NHS App, you can:

  • View some upcoming appointments
  • Read appointment letters
  • See some test results (where supported)
  • It uses the same NHS login as MyCare, making it easy to access.

How the two systems work together

  • MyCare provides a comprehensive view of your hospital care
  • MyCare pushes appointment and letter information to the NHS App
  • The NHS App then displays a smaller subset of what you see in MyCare
  • Notifications appear on your phone via the NHS App, while MyCare sends SMS alerts

Why some information might not appear

  • Some appointments, letters or results may not show in the NHS App or MyCare, including:
  • Sensitive test results
  • Appointments for certain specialist clinics
  • Results requiring a discussion first

This is to ensure sensitive information is communicated safely.

If you’re worried something is missing, please contact your care team.

Which one should I use?

You can use either, but MyCare gives you the most complete view of your hospital care.

The NHS App is helpful for quick access, especially if you already use it.

Both are free, secure and available on mobile or desktop.
