Go paperless with MyCare
You can choose to receive your hospital letters digitally through MyCare instead of by post.
Receiving your letters digitally is quicker, more convenient, and helps reduce paper use.
How to go paperless
When you register for MyCare, you will be asked how you would like to receive your hospital letters.
You can choose from the following two options:
- “Paperless letters in this portal, text message, or NHS App”
This means you will only receive your letters digitally through MyCare, the NHS App, or by text message notification when a new letter is available.
- “Letters delivered by post”
You will receive your letters by post and will receive letters through MyCare, the NHS App, or by text message notification when a new letter is available.
To receive your letters digitally, simply select “Paperless Letters” when choosing your communication preferences.
Important information
Regardless of your delivery preference, we recommend that you regularly check MyCare and the NHS App for:
- Appointment letters and updates
- Test results
- Clinical correspondence and care information
Some letters cannot be sent electronically for clinical or administrative reasons. In these cases, a paper copy will be sent by post, even if you have opted to receive your letters digitally.
Changing your letter delivery preference
If you choose paperless letters and later decide you would prefer to receive letters by post, you can update your communication preferences at any time by logging in to your MyCare account.
