Day Surgery Unit at St George’s

We are pleased to say that our day surgery, maxillofacial and hand units re-opened as normal this morning (19 July 2017).

The facility has been closed since last Wednesday due to a problem with the water supply, which has now been resolved.

Patients who had non-urgent operations and appointments cancelled last week are being contacted and offered new dates.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

X-ray Outpatients at St George’s

Due to a significant water leak in the St James’ Wing X-ray department, the unit was closed yesterday morning (Tuesday 18 July), and remains closed until further notice.

Our estates team is working hard to fix the problem, but until the affected areas are completely dry and a suitable environment for patients and staff, we won’t be in a position to re-open.

Patients with x-ray appointments scheduled for today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) in the process of being contacted to inform them of the cancellations. Once again, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Urgent and routine adult ultrasound continues in the department, and is so far unaffected. Patients requiring urgent x-rays and interventional radiology procedures are being accommodated elsewhere on our St George’s Hospital site. Our Emergency Department at St George’s is open as usual although, as always, please use this service wisely.
