St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust London, today opened the doors of its new laboratory for processing blood samples of pregnant women whose babies are at a high risk of developing Down’s, Edwards and Patau syndromes.
In this week’s episode on Channel 4 (aired on Wednesday 9pm) two little girls and an elderly gentleman requiring much needed treatment from our A&E team, including Simon, the nurse. Simon has made his first appearance in series 8 and is a turning into quite a TV star already!
Earlier this month, we had a stand at NHS Providers conference in Birmingham to showcase the work related to ‘24 Hours in A&E’ and how this had had an impact on the quality of care. It was a great opportunity to share our experience with other providers – why and how we managed the process of allowing film crews into our busiest department – managing the consent process, address quality of care and why we did it.

Fabrizio D’Abate, a Clinical Vascular Scientist at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, London received the 2015 Ann Donald award for Scientist of the Year on 14 November 2015 from the Society of Vascular Technology of Great Britain and Ireland (SVT).
