St George’s was this week presented with a Nursing Times Workforce award, beating eight other shortlisted Trusts from across the country to win in the ‘Best Recruitment Experience’ category.

The Trust won the award for our work recruiting new Band 5 nurses and improving the overall recruitment experience for applicants. It was assessed on innovation, value, adaptability and collaboration, including the use of innovative advertising; marketing campaigns; recruitment events; as well as the speed and communication with candidates; the assessment day, and interview experience.

Our campaign to attract nurses to St George’s featured key ‘selling points’ on why the Trust is a great place to start and develop nursing careers, researched through interviews with existing nurses.

Our recruitment and nursing team were presented with the award at a ceremony at the Brewery in London. The judges said that they were impressed with this projects’ clear evidence-based approach with innovative methods showcased by extensive amounts of detail and results to demonstrate the outcomes.

Sarah Mortimer, Recruitment Manager, said: “We are extremely pleased to win this award and to be recognised for the work we are doing. I would like to say special thanks to everyone involved.

“This award really shows that we are constantly improving our recruitment processes to make the recruitment journey and experience better for staff, and the fantastic opportunities available here at St George’s.”

Our nursing recruitment campaigns have helped the Trust halve overall vacancy rates to below 10% and reduce spend on agency nurses.
