This episode focuses on the bond between families and what holds them together through thick and thin. 84 year old John is rushed to St George’s after losing control of his car and crashing into a road sign. His wife Gwynaeth was having a meal out with the WI when she was told the news of his accident “I was asked to go to the desk to see somebody, and the somebody was this police officer”. After bullseyeing his car windscreen, John’s blood pressure drops dangerously low and doctors declare a “Code Red,” giving him an emergency blood transfusion.

St George’s study into aortic aneurysm repairs published

A study led by a team at St George’s has shown that surgeons in England operate significantly less often on aortic aneurysms in the population than in the US, and that the death rate here in the UK for the condition is over twice that in the States.

The results have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which is one of the most influential medical journals in the world.

G4S provide non-emergency patient transport services for patients accessing treatment at St George’s, St John’s Therapy Centre and Trevelyan House

The GMB Union is planning three days of industrial action next week from 00.01 hours on Tuesday 22 November through to 23.59 hours on Thursday, 24 November.
