Respiratory Outpatient Physiotherapy
On this page:
The Outpatient Respiratory Physiotherapy service offers individual one-to-one appointments to help you manage your respiratory condition.
We see a range of conditions including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Asthma, Bronchiectasis, Hyperventilation syndrome (dysfunctional breathing patterns), sputum clearance difficulties and management of shortness of breath.
We work closely with our respiratory physicians at St. George’s Chest Clinic who provide specialist care to patients with any lung conditions.
Referrals are welcomed from Consultants, Nurse specialists, GP’s, or via the inpatient physiotherapy team after a hospital admission.

By speaking through your individual circumstances your physiotherapist will determine which treatment method is most suited to you. In most circumstances you will be given written advice to further help you perform your exercises independently at home.
Physiotherapy encourages individuals to embrace a self-management strategy in order to best manage their condition. Your physiotherapist will guide you through this process and initiate further referrals to necessary services if required.
