Miss Samantha Hettige
Clinical interests
Miss Hettige is a consultant neurosurgeon at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. She has a clinical interest in general adult neurosurgery including spine, hydrocephalus and trauma neurosurgery and a specialist interest in paediatric neurosurgery including brain and spinal tumours, hydrocephalus and spinal dysraphism.

Professional profile
Miss Hettige qualified from Trinity College, Cambridge University with a MA(Hons) in Neurosciences and from Green College, Oxford University with BMBCh in 2004. She trained as a junior doctor in Oxford and London and completed higher specialist training in neurosurgery at King's College Hospital, St George's Hospital and Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre. She undertook specialist fellowship training for one year at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London.
She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Neurosurgery) in 2013.
Miss Hettige has published more than 20 peer reviewed papers on various aspects of neurosurgery. She has presented at over 20 national and international meetings and has taught on a number of national training courses.
Miss Hettige is the lead for paediatric neurosurgery at St George's and is the lead for the regional paediatric brain tumour MDT. She is also the lead for Departmental Governance and best practice.
She is a member of the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS), European Association of Neurological Surgeons (EANS) and American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).
