Clinical interests
Professor Tostevin specialises in General Otolaryngology care within the ENT department at St George’s with both general and paediatric clinics and operating. She has led the successful implementation of virtual clinics for the team since 2018. Professor Tostevin is deeply involved in the training and development of the future workforce from admission to medical school through to CCT and beyond.
Professional profile
Professor Tostevin qualified with an MBBS in 1991 from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital medical school and undertook her early surgical training at Great Ormond Street, the Royal National ENT, St Thomas’ and John Radcliffe Hospitals. She then carried out ENT training across South West London and Surrey, before being appointed to a Clinical Academic post as Senior Lecturer in Surgical Education to St George’s, University of London (SGUL) and Honorary Consultant Otolaryngologist to St George’s Hospital in 2006. In 2019 she was appointed Professor of Practice in Surgical Education in recognition of commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate education.
Following 5 years of leadership of both the undergraduate and graduate MBBS programmes Professor Tostevin was appointed Head of the Centre for Clinical Clinical Teaching at SGUL within the Institute of Medical and Biomedical Education. Professor Tostevin is currently the Director of Education for ENT-UK, which is professional organisation with a membership of 1,600 representing the specialty. She is also a longstanding national and international examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for ENT in the UK and an Honorary Fellow of the European Board of Otolaryngology and
Head and Neck Surgery.
