Mr Zahid Mukhtar
Clinical interests
Mr Mukhtar is a consultant specialising in general paediatric and neonatal surgery. His specialties within surgery include minimally invasive, laparoscopic, thoracoscopic and paediatric oncology surgery.
Professional profile
Mr Mukhtar qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College in 1995. He trained as a paediatric surgeon in and around London, including Great Ormond Street Hospital.
He has expertise in minimally invasive paediatric surgery, and is one of only a few paediatric surgeons routinely performing laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery on newborns in the UK.
He was appointed a consultant at St George's Hospital in 2007, at the same time taking the post of honorary senior lecturer in the department of trauma, conflict and catastrophe at St George's, University of London.
