Mr Oikonomou brings over 15 years of distinguished experience as a doctor and surgeon, with specialized training at four prestigious European University Teaching Hospitals. He earned his Medical Degree (MD) from the University of Ioannina in Greece and served as a military doctor for the National Greek Army.
His advanced training includes a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the renowned Armand Trousseau Children’s Hospital in Paris, France, where he was awarded a D.U. degree in Pediatric Audiophonology by Pierre and Marie Curie University. Additionally, he completed head and neck surgery fellowships at two leading UK centers for robotic surgery—St George’s University Hospital and Guy’s Cancer Centre—where he honed his expertise in complex, minimally invasive head, neck, and thyroid procedures.
Mr. Oikonomou is currently appointed as an ENT, Head, and Neck Consultant at St George’s Hospital (SGH), where he also serves as the lead for ENT Airway Services. He has led the establishment of the Scarless Thyroid Surgery Service at St George’s Hospital, developing the largest series of endoscopic and robotic thyroid procedures in the UK He is a founding member of the UK Remote Access Thyroid Surgery Group and an active member of the European Transoral Endoscopic Thyroid Vestibular Access Surgery Group.
