Dr Gareth Sadler
Clinical interests
Dr Sadler has been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at St. George’s Hospital since September 2012. His clinical practice includes the assessment and management of a range of luminal gastroenterology conditions, including coeliac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia (indigestion), anaemia and unexplained weight loss. His main interests are endoscopy training, bowel cancer screening, and therapeutic colonoscopy.
Professional profile
Dr Sadler graduated from The University of Birmingham Medical School in 2000, having undertaken an intercalated degree in Cell Biology & Genetics in 1998. He undertook specialist training in gastroenterology in the West Midlands deanery, and an advanced endoscopy fellowship at St George's Hospital, prior to taking up a consultant post at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in 2010. He then completed a Masters degree in Health Economics and Healthcare Policy, before moving back to St George's Hospital in 2012.
Dr Sadler has been the Endoscopy Training Lead for the Trust, and continues to maintain a major interest in endoscopy training as a lead faculty member for Basic Skills and Colonoscopy courses, for both clinicians and the Clinical Endoscopist (formerly NME) programme. He is an accredited assessor for Bowel Scope Screening and Bowel Cancer Screening examinations, and is the current Director of Bowel Cancer Screening for the South West London hub. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
