Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist

Dr Lee is a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist, with a specialist interest in neuromuscular disorders, peripheral nerve diseases, and epilepsy. As a neurophysiology physician, she sees patients and performs and interprets investigations which record activity from the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. These include nerve conduction studies, electromyography (EMG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), evoked potentials (EP) and electroencephalography (EEG). These investigations are used to aid the diagnosis in various conditions affecting these parts of the nervous system.

Professional profile
Dr Lee did her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Cambridge with an intercalated degree in Natural Sciences, completing her clinical training in London in 2011. She then undertook her foundation training at Southampton General Hospital (Wessex deanery) from 2011-2013, and then postgraduate clinical training in Edinburgh from 2013-2016, where she completed clinical training rotations in general internal medicine, psychiatry and neurology at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, Western General Hospital and Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. She was awarded a clinical research fellowship MSc (Distinction) at the University of Edinburgh in 2016-2017, undertaking basic laboratory research in neurodevelopmental genetics at the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine.
She then completed her higher specialist training in Clinical Neurophysiology at St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from 2017-2021, including training in paediatric EMG/EEG at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She took up the position as Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist in 2021, and works at both St. George’s Hospital London and Royal Surrey County Hospital (for which she is consultant lead for the department). Alongside her clinical commitments, she is involved in training junior doctors in neurophysiology, clinical service development as well as clinical research.
