Dr Oliver Cousins
Consultant Neurologist
Dr Cousins is a consultant neurologist at St George’s and St Helier Hospitals. He has specialist interests in cognitive neurology, dementia and adult hydrocephalus. He has a weekly cognitive/hydrocephalus clinic at St George’s Hospital where he predominantly sees people with younger onset or uncommon causes of memory and thinking issues. He attends the hydrocephalus multidisciplinary team meeting with neurosurgical colleagues and works with a team of dementia specialist nurses.
He sees the full spectrum of general and acute neurology presentations at St Helier hospital and works closely with medical teams, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis nurses, and the Parkinson’s disease practitioners.
Professional profile
Dr Cousins studied medicine at Imperial College London and qualified in 2012. He completed neurology training in London and Kent and was awarded a clinical neuroscience PhD at King’s College London on the subject of the role microglia in Alzheimer’s disease. He has also published on the role of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the development of neurological disease.
He is also interested in the education of junior colleagues, quality improvement and research trials in dementia.
