Professional profile
Dr Fossati is a consultant anaesthetist with a special interest in anaesthesia for renal transplantation and renal failure patients.
She completed her medical and anaesthetic training at Pisa University, Italy, where she also obtained a PhD in transoesophageal echocardiography.
Dr Fossati worked as substantive consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care at Pisa University Hospitals between 1993 and 2004, mainly in the perioperative management of patients for general, major vascular and transplantation surgery (kidney, pancreas, liver).
Since June 2004 she has been working in the anaesthesia department at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with an interest in renal and vascular conditions. She is also the lead consultant for anaesthesia in patients with renal failure.
Dr Fossati has a long-standing interest in medical education and obtained an MA in higher and professional education in 2014 (UCL-Institute of Education). She is a Reader at St George's, University of London.
