Dr Lisa Pickering
Clinical interests
Dr Pickering is a consultant medical oncologist who specialises in the treatment of cancers of the urinary tract. These include renal, ureteric, bladder, penile and prostate cancers.
Professional profile
Dr Pickering gained an honours degree in physiological sciences from the University of Oxford in 1992, and her medical degree in 1995 from the University of London. She trained in medical oncology at Guy's and St Thomas' and St George's Hospitals, and was awarded a PhD from the University of London in 2007.
She was appointed a consultant medical oncologist at the Royal Marsden and St George's Hospitals in 2008 and is an honorary senior lecturer at St George's, University of London.
Her major research interests are in the development of new treatments for urological cancers and in determining how to individualise patient treatment by using imaging and molecular biomarkers. She is currently a principal investigator in more than ten clinical trials in urological oncology.
