Dr James Blackburn
Clinical interests
Dr Blackburn was appointed at St George's Hospital as a consultant in anaesthesia and pain medicine in 2005.
Dr Blackburn has an interest in the management of Trigeminal Neuralgia, via Gasserian Gangliolyisis as well as other head and neck pain, musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain. He also is involved in the test dosing and management of intrathecal baclofen pumps as well as intrathecal phenol injection for spasticity.
Professional profile
Dr Blackburn graduated from the Royal Free Hospital School of medicine in 1995 with degrees in anatomy and medicine. He gained his fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2001 and Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2008. He currently supervises the training of anaesthetic trainees in higher and advanced pain medicine.
