Dr Frances Elmslie

Dr Elmslie is a consultant in genetics at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who specialises in paediatric genetics, the genetics of epilepsy and developmental brain malformations and also tuberous sclerosis.
Professional profile
Dr Elmslie graduated from the University of Bristol with an MBChB in 1987, and further qualified with a DCH in 1990. She subsequently trained in Bristol, Plymouth and at Great Ormond Street and St George's Hospitals in paediatrics and clinical genetics.
Her research interest in genetics led her to gain an MD from University College London in the genetics of epilepsy, in which she maintains a clinical and research interests. She was appointed to a consultant post at Guy's Hospital in 2000 and moved to her current post at St George's in 2003. Since 2008 she has been clinical director for children's services.
