Dr David Carrington
Clinical interests
Dr Carrington is a specialist in clinical virology within the Infection Care Group and Department of Medical Microbiology at St George’s. His specialist interests are in congenital infection of the fetus and newborn, the sexually transmitted infections: chlamydia and syphilis, and the management of viral infections of the immunocompromised: particularly HIV, CMV, EBV, VZV and Adenovirus.
Professional profile
He trained initially in microbiology at Queen Mary College, London, and completed his medical training at the London Hospital Medical College in 1976. He went on to train in clinical virology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at the Hammersmith Hospital, London until 1983.
Dr Carrington has held consultant posts previously at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary 1984, St George’s Hospital London 1992 and was Clinical Services Director Public Health Laboratory at Bristol Royal Infirmary before returning to St George’s Hospital in 2014.
