Dr Daphne Keen
Clinical interests
Dr Keen is a specialist in neurodevelopment paediatrics. This includes autism spectrum conditions such as Asperger syndrome, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Tourette syndrome and developmental coordination disorder (dyspraxia). She has also developed an interest in the management of selective mutism.
She has a particular interest in the interaction between developmental, behavioural and mental health disorders, as well as an interest in the use of psychopharmacology.
Professional profile
Dr Keen qualified in 1978 from Sheffield University medical school and trained in paediatrics in Sheffield. She has been a consultant paediatrician at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and honorary senior lecturer at St George's, University of London since 1999. She was previously a consultant and lead clinician for the Child Development Centre in Doncaster.
She has had a long standing interest in mental health training and practice within paediatrics, and took a lead role in the development of the paediatric mental health specialty within the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Dr Keen has published several papers in international journals, particularly in the area of autism and ADHD, regularly speaking at national conferences. She is a member of the NICE guideline development group for conduct disorder.
