Clinical interests

Mr Ayres is a consultant Urological surgeon and Care Group Lead for Urology at St George’s Hospital. His specialist interests include andrology, bladder cancer, prostate cancer and penile cancer.  He read medicine at Bristol University and undertook his specialist Urological training in South West London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex regions.

Ben is especially interested in teaching and training. He teaches at the Royal College of Surgeons (England), is an educational and clinical supervisor to trainees in the Urology department and is surgical lead for T year medical students at St George’s medical school. He is also a tutor on bladder cancer for Edinburgh University’s Urology ChM degree.

Ben has several publications on bladder, prostate and penile cancer and is involved with national trials in the management of bladder and penile cancer. He is also a founding member of the charity “Action on Bladder Cancer” and is involved with the National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN).
