A St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust therapy consultant has been selected to join a database of expert health professionals who will help develop national policies for services involving older people.

Louise Briggs, allied health professional therapy consultant for acute rehabilitation, was invited to join the database to provide her clinical expertise on older people to national bodies such as NHS England.

The expertise that Louise and other healthcare professionals provide will help to develop policies and commissioning pathways for older patients nationally.

Louise said: “Joining this database is a great opportunity to raise the profile of rehabilitation for older people and to be able to influence best practice at a national level.

“Care of frail older people has been under the spotlight in the media recently, and I hope that by taking a role in helping to develop clear guidelines we can improve the standard of healthcare for these patients across the country.”
