Throughout the month of October, staff at the Trust have been marking Freedom to Speak Month.

The awareness month encourages all staff to feel confident to speak up if they have concerns.

Activity over the month included:

#SpeakUp campaign

We launched our #SpeakUp campaign at the beginning of the month. Our campaign features an alphabet of speak up words – from accountability to zero tolerance – to remind staff about the importance of speaking up, and how as a Trust we can offer support.

Messages from our Trust Board

Members of our Trust Board highlighted the importance of making sure staff feel safe to speak up with video messages. You can view the videos here.

Members of our Executive team were also delighted to welcome Dr Henrietta Hughes, National Guardian of the NHS, to St George’s for a visit. Dr Hughes met with some of our Freedom to Speak Up team to talk about their work and the importance of making it easy for staff to raise concerns.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign throughout October.
