First Touch Ball raises £5667 for our Neonatal Unit
Long term supporters of the First Touch charity, Suzanne Radford and Angela Hegarty, held their annual First Touch Ball on Saturday October 7, raising nearly £5700 for St George’s Neonatal Unit.
The ball was hosted by The Hilton in Croydon, welcomed 160 guests and raised £5667. The funds will be used to refurbish the Parents’ Sitting Room at the Neonatal Unit.
The event took place just before the start of National Baby Loss Week. Suzanne’s precious daughter, Georgia, was cared for at the neonatal unit but tragically passed away. Suzanne was a founding member of First Touch charity, raising funds for the unit that cared for Georgia.
Louise Williams, Charity Coordinator at First Touch, thanked the pair for their tireless hard work to help families with premature and sick babies: “Suzie and Angela are a huge part of our small charity. Thanks to their previous fundraising we were able to make the Quiet Room a relaxing and pleasant place for families and hospital staff.”
Suzanne and Angela said: “It takes a year of hard work to organise but when we stand looking around on the night and see what we’ve achieved and the enjoyment on everyone’s face it really makes it all worthwhile”
First Touch is committed to supporting bereaved families. The charity funds memory boxes for families at the neonatal unit and pays for the annual neonatal memorial service at the hospital each November.
