We would like to reassure you that our Emergency Department (ED) at St George’s Hospital remains open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for anyone requiring emergency care.

Our ED staff are able to safely care for anyone that requires treatment, and a number of steps have been taken to reduce the risk of infection. We are here for you, and please don’t hesitate to access treatment if you urgently need it.

By delaying getting the care that you need, it is possible that you are risking your long-term health.

Dr Rhys Benyon, Consultant in Emergency Care, said: “We want you to know that we’re here for you. If you’re critically ill or you have a severe injury then please do come to us. We’re ready to treat you.”

In a medical emergency, please call 999. If you need urgent medical advice, which is not life-threatening, contact NHS 111 or speak to your GP.
