Birth Centre at St George’s – reopening of services, 6 September 2021
UPDATE – 6 September 2021
St George’s maternity service is delighted to announce the re-opening of the Birth Centre after a short period of closure.
We are now able to offer you a water birth, if you chose, and continue to run our midwifery-led clinics as normal. We would like to thank you for your patience during the past few weeks and look forward to welcoming you back to our Birth Centre, should you chose this for your labour and birth.
UPDATE – 26 August 2021
St George’s maternity service has taken the difficult decision to continue the temporary suspension of care in labour and birth on the Birth Centre. This decision has been made so that staff can be redeployed to our Delivery Suite, where our midwives can provide safe, one-to-one care for women during labour.
Although during this time we will be unable to offer a waterbirth, your birth experience remains important to us and we will continue to work hard to ensure this is achieved. Midwifery-led care is not affected and will continue uninterrupted within our Delivery Suite environment – our team of midwives are still here to care for you.
If you have a midwives appointment in the Birth Centre clinic this will not be affected and will continue as normal. Please be assured that this redeployment of staff means we can continue to provide a safe service to all women and their babies who need us.
This temporary closure will continue until Sunday 5 September 2021. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
