Sharing the site of one of the country’s principal teaching hospitals in St George’s Hospital, St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust and St George’s, University of London and  have established an integrated programme of research and teaching to inform clinical practice.

Working together provides opportunities for advanced medical research collaborations which translate into the highest national and international standards of patient care and clinical outcome.

Research at St George’s investigates and develops new, pioneering methods and treatments to improve public health in the local, national and international arena and in some of the poorest regions in the world. Recognised globally for the quality of its biomedical and clinical research, St George’s is home to six research centres located within three divisions, with talented researchers conducting a wide range of basic, clinical, translational and practice-based research. This research attracts support from major research funders including The Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council (MRC), Department of Health (DoH), The European Union (EU), National Institute of Health USA (NIH) and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education, a joint partnership with Kingston University, combines the research expertise and resources of a modern university with those at St George’s. The Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education undertakes health and social care research that directly informs policy and practice.
