Who’s who on our wards?
Matron  They are also responsible for ensuring the delivery of high standards of nursing care in their clinical areas and are accountable to their respective Heads of Nursing and Divisional Directors of Nursing and Governance.  | 
Senior Sister or Charge Nurse
 They lead and co-ordinate the nursing team in their area and have continuous responsibility for the management and organisation of the ward/department. They are also accountable for the overall provision of excellent nursing care and work collaboratively with the ward’s multidisciplinary team.  | 
Junior Charge Nurse
 They also manage staff and other resources, as well as carrying out the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the ward/department  | 
Senior Staff Nurse
 They will frequently support the day to day management of a ward/department.  | 
Staff Nurse
 As their skills and competencies develop, staff nurses also begin to actively participate in contributing to the management of the ward or department on a regular basis.  | 
Health Care Assistant
 HCAs are involved in direct patient care such as:
