Marie Curie – Companion Volunteer
St George’s Hospital, Tooting London

Marie Curie and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have joined together to offer a Companion service that will support people at the end of life.

We are looking for compassionate volunteers to join our dedicated team. You will provide emotional support to patients and those who care for them – providing a listening ear, or simply being there for people at a very difficult time.

Calling patients interested in volunteering in healthcare education

Hearing about the real lived experience of patients is a valuable learning tool for our students.  It can be a rewarding experience for you to take part in developing our student’s knowledge and be involved in their training to become well rounded healthcare professionals.

We train various healthcare professionals including Doctors, Pharmacologists, Physician Associates, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, among others. We welcome and encourage working with patients and carers, to learn about lived personal experiences and to help students with their examination and communication skills.

There may be criteria to meet the needs for the sessions that we run. We can discuss this and any questions with you.

If you think you would be interested, please call Kirstie Ellis on 07922 382998 to discuss. Available on a Wednesday or Thursday between 9am-4pm. Alternatively, please scan the QR code below and fill in your contact details and we will contact you to discuss.
