Professor Mike Sharland

Professor Sharland is a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He has a specialist interest in paediatric antimicrobial prescribing.
Professional profile
Professor Sharland graduated from Kings College Hospital in 1979, earned his MD at the University of London in 1992 and DTM+H from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1994. He joined St George's Hospital as a consultant in 1995.
He heads the paediatric infectious diseases service for south London and chairs a national network for children with HIV. He leads the paediatric infectious diseases unit at St George's Hospital, one of the national training centres in PID in the UK.
His research interest focus on optimising antimicrobial prescribing for children. He has published over 150 papers in this area.
