Clinical interests
Mr Abdelhamid is a Consultant Vascular & Endovascular Surgeon at St George’s University Hospitals. His practice includes the management of varicose veins, peripheral arterial disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm, carotid artery disease and thoracic outlet syndrome. His specialist interests include endovascular interventions for peripheral arterial disease, aortic disease, varicose veins and thoracic outlet syndrome decompression.
Professional profile
Mr Abdelhamid qualified with Honours from Cairo University Medical School in 1998. He completed a research and MSc degree in General Surgery in 2002. He finished the basic surgical training and started higher surgical training at Cairo University hospital before moving to the UK in 2004.
He finished a research in vascular surgery at University of Birmingham in 2010 leading to MD degree and undertook general and vascular surgery training in South East London Deanery. Mr Abdelhamid has done his training in the vascular units at St Thomas’ hospital, Kings College hospital, St Mary’s hospital, Kent & Canterbury hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He spent two years of extensive endovascular fellowship in Perth, Australia. He was appointed as vascular and endovascular surgeon at St George’s University Hospitals in 2017.
Mr Abdelhamid has several publications in high impact vascular journals and has presented in national and international meetings. He is a reviewer for several vascular journals.
